[ He definitely didn't forget his own birthday, Deku, what the fuck. Katsuki simply isn't...you know, doing anything for it? It's a thing, it exists, but he doesn't really plan to do anything other than attempt to make himself curry in this shitty place of no Japanese food.

It's a work in progress, and not as terrible as it could be if anyone else tried, so...

Izuku will actually find him in the kitchens, working on that. He narrows his eyes when he spies Deku creeping around (although realistically speaking Deku actually isn't creeping at all). ]

[Ah, there he is...Katsuki being in the kitchen isn't terribly uncommon either, though maybe moreso when it's possible other people could be in there, barring the castle staff themselves. But it's later now and most others have either gotten something by now or don't need the kitchen anyway, leaving Izuku and Katsuki alone. Izuku lifts his satchel a little higher on his shoulder, careful to make sure the bag is laying carefully against his hip still.]

O-oh no, that's okay...I was just wondering where you were.

[How...does one broach this topic. Katsuki already seems grumpy, though perhaps not as much as he could have been. No one has tried throwing him a party all day, which is likely an insance on his birthday he's not used to anymore.]

Despite insisting Deku can't bum a meal, he does start adjusting the recipe a little, but Deku's kind of a dense fuck sometimes so he maybe won't notice anyway until later. ]

[Even what Katsuki prepares is probably not going to be the same due to the lack of the appropriate spices, honestly. But it will be close. Izuku takes advantage of the times when Fellden has the power to offer up food from home, in which he gets Katsudon literally every time.]

I just got back from one of my alchemy lessons.

[ He's trying pretty hard, but yeah, it's not going to be an exact match.

I've nearly mastered Enchantment by now. Alchemy hasn't been coming quite as easy, but Waver-san has been tutoring me.

For that, anyway. Everything else is still fair game. ]

Are you bad at alchemy because you suck at cooking?

I'm not that bad, Kacchan...and not everyone is a natural like you are. Alchemy is a lot more precise than cooking is anyway...one wrong mixture or addition and you could blow the whole room up.

Sounds more fun than most of the shit you're interested in.

Because I'm learning Healing and Shapeshifting instead.

And I feel like I'm maybe getting closer to Black Whip, slowly...I mean, I've gotten as strong as I can now with One For All, or at least...as much power as it has here, given what the Emperor told me.

[The force with which Katsuki slams the bowl down causes Izuku to startle and pull his hands back from the table, looking up at Katsuki quickly.]

Wh- Kacchan, I've been trying! I don't know why I can't reach it here! Black Whip was already unstable before, and now One For All isn't at full capacity and I've already been told it never will be!

[And he hates it as much as Katsuki, believe him. But he has to dial it back, knowing Katsuki is just going to see this as Izuku making excuses...]

I won't take up any other disciplines until I've figured it out.

[Izuku realizes this when Katsuki stomps over to grab a portion for himself, and well...he's not going to complain? Katsuki's a stellar cook even in the hardest conditions, so he picks up his utensils as he replies.]

[He can speak Katsuki enough to know not to mention it. Instead he just spoons some of the curry over his rice, taking both together in one mouthful.]

I don't know how to use a sword at all. I at least have some experience with my Quirk, it's just...not behaving like I'm used to, here.

[ It's spicy, but it's not like Katsuki could get the proper spices, so... ]

He exhales, partly over the conversation and partly to cool off his on-fire mouth. It tastes so good, though.]

If I had any idea what to do to make it work for me, I would. But it's more unpredictable now than it was back home.
