IN CHARACTER
HISTORY.
• Grew up in the same neighborhood as Izuku Midoriya (protagonist); they were childhood friends and Katsuki called him "Deku" while Izuku called him "Kacchan.
• Received his Quirk (superpower) at a young age, which fed into his superiority complex. He was praised for EVERYTHING as a kid, because he was The Ace and good at everything.
• At one point falls off a log bridge into a lake thing and laughs it off; Deku tries to offer him a hand up asking if he's okay and Katsuki sees it as "looking down on him" and holds a grudge about it for like a decade, like a moron.
• There was some bullying of Izuku throughout the remainder of their childhood due to this grudge/belief up through middle school.
• In middle school Katsuki plans to attend U.A. High and does not like that Izuku also plans to since Izuku is Quirkless and also Izuku. On his way home one day he's captured by a slime villain that starts to consume him whole. No hero around jumps to help him, even All Might (the number one hero) because none of them have Quirks that can help. Izuku is there, however, and runs forward to save him (later leading to All Might giving Deku his Quirk).
• He ignores Deku for the rest of middle school after yelling at him for having the gall to help him.
• The U.A. High entrance exam happens; Katsuki is mostly cordial to Deku when he shows up for it and they for some reason sit together. He scores 77 combat points, the most of any of the potential students, so of course he gets in.
• Once he's in Class 1A Katsuki is given the Quirk Apprehension Test with his classmates (basically a gym test but for the first time in their lives they can use their Quirks) and ranks 3rd place overall; Izuku ranks last.
• During his first battle trial class, he's paired with Iida against Deku and Uraraka; Katsuki loses sight of the test trying to blow Deku up because he's pissed Deku suddenly has a Quirk, and Deku's team wins the battle as a result.
• Katsuki has a breakdown at his loss, and Deku reveals he got his Quirk from someone else.
• The class goes to the U.S.J. outdoor facility for training. While there, they're attacked by villains and divided. Katsuki ends up with Kirishima, and they take down the villains in the area they were sent to and then go to find the head villains behind it. Katsuki manages to take down Kurogiri, but the villain gets away after a Nomu attacks to free him.
• The class then goes through the Sports Festival, which has several events. Katsuki places high in all of them, and eventually manages to win the entire thing - which he throws a hissy fit about, because he doesn't believe the 2nd place Todoroki fought him with everything he had and Katsuki doesn't want a win he didn't earn. He has to be put in bondage gear on national television in order to get him to accept the first place medal.
• Trains under Best Jeanist for an internship.
• Paired in final exams with Deku against All Might; they pass.
• During the Forest Training Camp he trains his Quirk and is kidnapped by the villains when they interrupt the camp. They saw him being muzzled on TV and invite him to join them, but he refuses.
• He's saved by Deku and some other classmates. However, during this rescue All Might is shown to have to retire, and Katsuki becomes "the reason for All Might's end".
• Moves into the U.A. dorms.
• Fails the final stage of the Provisional License Exam because he's an asshole to the professional victims.
• Confronts Deku about having All Might's Quirk; they have a drawn-out battle that Katsuki wins. The two are put on house arrest for a while after.
• Starts training to retake the exam.
• Plays the drums at the culture festival.
• Wins his battle as the team lead during joint training with class 1B.
• Takes down some petty villains after getting his license.
• Works for Endeavor as an intern alongside Deku and Todoroki.
PERSONALITY.
You know the rival character who's constantly at odds with the peaceful everyman hero of the story? That rival is Katsuki Bakugou. He's loud, rude, and generally explosive in temper and demeanour. He's constantly striving to be the best, and he's a perfectionist in the worst (or best) way, always moving forward and never giving up even when he honestly probably should. He's rarely shown not scowling or yelling, and when he does smile it tends to be a terrifying slasher grin because he's just That Way, apparently.
Despite being pretty antagonistic, Katsuki isn't a bad person at his core. Yes, he bullied the main character in their childhood and yes, he is an asshole pretty regularly to everyone he knows, but Katsuki actually leans harder into the "his bark is worse than his bite" trope these days in the manga more than he doesn't. He's never one to go easy on people in a fight or anything, but he yells at his classmates more often than he actually tries to physically assault them. And even if he bitches to hell and back about helping his idiot friends and classmates, Katsuki will actually almost always end up helping. He just has to be a melodramatic bitch about everything, because he's an emotionally stunted moron. He wants to be a hero more than anything else, and as a result he actually does want to help people out in his own brash kind of way. Thanks to character development he even tries to go about it more carefully now, to some degree. While his attitude comes off as villainous at first glance, he absolutely isn't a villain at all and has canonically very firmly refused an offer to join the villain side because he's already been won over by the way heroes are. Even though he's a dick, Katsuki has firm standards and morals, and he doesn't appreciate people trying to budge him outside of those zones.
The thing praised about him the most in universe besides being Good At Everything (he's The Ace) is his drive. Katsuki is driven, a determinator bunny who never stops going, and the force of his passion for anything and everything he does frequently pushes others along with him and forces them to improve as well. No matter the hopeless situation, Katsuki never stops looking for a way to win. The losses he's had to deal with have definitely tempered him somewhat, but they haven't made him stop trying - if anything, they've made his drive to win even more intense. He's just gotten smarter about how to win, and he now actually utilizes his teammates and friends and displays teamwork - even if it's really grouchy teamwork.
He's also really intelligent despite the hair trigger temper and his tendency to overreact to everything. Katsuki, when he's calm, gives good and honest advice. He's also able to come up with strategies in battle at the drop of a hat, relying on instinct and talent to finish things flawlessly. He's one of the top students in his class scholastically despite the way he looks like a thug, and it shows. Katsuki can occasionally show his more serious and mature side verbally as well so long as no one taps any of his many rage buttons.
His downsides are all pretty much centered on the same thing: his ridiculous temper and his superiority/inferiority complex. Despite having a huge ego and a lot of pride, Katsuki actually gets bent out of shape when he perceives people to be better than him, although he's getting vaguely better about this as the manga continues. He has a hard time being traditionally nice to people (he has rude bitch disease) and Katsuki isn't always the smoothest about teamwork - in-universe, he's pulled it off because he's always worked with people who put up with his bullshit. With strangers who don't Get him, it's harder.
Motivations? There's only one. To be a hero who always wins...so, the rest of his personality all falls into line with that.
ABILITIES
STRENGTHS.
Katsuki's an athletic guy, and training to be a hero; he's above-average in fighting skills and strength but his main skill and the one worth noting is Explosion. He's from a canon where most people have a single superpower (called Quirks), and his allows him to secrete nitroglycerin-like sweat and detonate it at will from his hands to cause explosions. Basically...his hands are ticking time bombs (but he has control of them). The more he sweats, the more powerful he gets. Gross. Beyond the obvious athletics ability and superpower, Katsuki is apparently an amazing chef and excellent at cleaning, and he's naturally talented at bookwork. He can also flawlessly play the drums. Katsuki's that character who just happens to be Good at a lot of bullshit, without seeming to try, although he puts in 1000% effort into anything he does. For fun:
His official stats from the latest guidebook.
WEAKNESSES.
His temper is by far his biggest weakness; he gets mad about the dumbest bullshit. Also? He's easy to dare into shit if you imply he can't do something or he's afraid to do it. Powers-wise, his explosions are hard on his arms; they'll start to shake/be sore after a while if he doesn't have proper equipment or he goes too long. Also, he's less effective in cold weather without special gear to make him sweat more/collect his sweat. Still gross!
OPT-IN.
YES. He'll be a petty little bitch whenever anyone else manages to snag his Quirk, of course, but that's the fun part.

Two Grenade-gauntlets and a belt of grenades (All of these run on his sweat. It's gross).
